A bridge is “fixed” or cemented into your mouth. The teeth on either side of the space where the tooth has been lost are prepared down to allow room for the crowns. As with a crown, a bridge requires 2 appointments. At your first appointment an impression is taken so that we can make you a temporary bridge while the real bridge is being made by the lab. Your teeth on either side of the space are prepared down to allow room for the crowns and an impression it taken and then sent to the laboratory. At your second appointment the lab fabricated bridge is cemented permanently into your mouth. Again a bridge should last about 10 years, if you take good care of it. You will be shown how to properly clean under and around the bridge with floss threaders. (Canadian Dental Association Information System).
